More CRXs

Well, they seem to be multiplying! William and I went down to Birmingham today and brought home yet another CRX. This one is in much better shape than the red HF I've been using as a daily driver - the body has very few dings and dents, it has a carbon fiber hood, the interior is all there, and it has some nice mods that I'd have done eventually. The only problem is that the motor is shot. However, between the parts that came with it and my stack of spares for the race car, I should easily be able to get it up and running in short order. The plan is to fix the "new" one and sell the HF. If I don't mess up too bad, I should still come out better in the end than driving my truck to work every day.

New Paint

I finally got the fresh "Frost White" paint on the BuggBoyZ Racer, and then added stripes! All that is left to be race-ready is to add numbers and class markings. I think it turned out pretty good. There is a little bit of trash (bumps) in the paint that are highlighted by the shiny blue racing stripes, but overall it looks great for a race car! I'm happy.
Next is to update the passenger side bars on the cage. (not a requirment, but a nice-to-have) I'll see about that in the next couple of weeks.

Getting Started

After a long time on MotorPride.com they finally gave up on trying to keep it running. So I've moved my basic information (pictures, video links, etc.) to http://home.mchsi.com/~buggboyz and I'll try to keep up with the progress of the car, team, and season here in this blog. I'll likely also diverge from time to time into other fun areas (especially during the off season we're currently enjoying) like geocaching, BuggBoyZ baseball and football, and Upward Cheerleading.

We race with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) in the Improved Touring (IT) class. The "A" designates the sub category which in this case includes mostly Hondas, Miatas, Accuras, a few Nissan 240sx, and similar cars. IT allows for minimal modifications so the cars still look like cars and could technically still be licensed and driven on the street. Here is a short write up from our first outing in the new ITA Honda CRX at Barber Motorsports Park last Labor Day.

We took the new ITA Honda out for its first test/race over the Labor Day weekend. The learning curve was/is a little steep, but we were able to get the car to handle better as the weekend progressed. By Sunday's race, we were fighting hard for 4th place (in a field of 20+ cars) and the car felt very good. Watching the video, the driver is the one that needs the work! Have a blessed day. God is good!
